Flower of Carnage - Chapter 5 - Lilith (GortsAssassin) (2024)

Not soon after that conversation, she'd decided to sit in the chair that was in front of his desk.

She didn't know if she'd be able to return to sleep after that dream she'd had.

Her memories swirled at the mention of it, that golden gauntlet and red dagger still clear as day. Neither of those had anything to do with the Crown. So why did she see them?

She distracted herself with books that talked about the Crown of Karsus. It looked, in the books, the exact same as it did in her 'dream'.

That same spikey appearance.

However, this image.. the stones were still attached to it, combined into one whole stone.

In her dream, the stones were split up.

Her eyes narrowed, as her fingers lightly caressed the page. Her claw traced the shape of the Crown absently, her mind distracted.

She snapped out of it, the thought of power creeping up in the back of her mind the longer she stared at the image.

Her head leaned against a dresser stacked with books, as she continued to research on the Crown. Where it was, how it worked, its creator. It didn't say much about putting it ontop of the crown of a brain.

As she finally got onto the page regarding removing the stones to control the wearer, her eyes started fluttering closed on their own.

Grogginess suddenly consumed her mind, not even aware that her lack of sleep would cause her to suddenly pass out.

Her arms grew heavy, as her eyes slowly closed on their own for the last time.

It didn't even register to her, that she was in enemy territory. The lack of sleep taking too strong of a hold on her.

Another dream began to swim behind her eyelids.

Waves of reds and blacks covered her vision. Pulsing with intensity as each wave throbbed at the back of her skull.

The red opened up, a bright light appearing before her, and a hand outstretched to her.

The hand was covered in blood. The golden metallic gauntlet flashing brightly into her eyes.

A purple stone glowed within a cavity that was burrowed into the back hand of the gauntlet.

She felt like she recognized this hand. But before she could tell herself to look closer...

Everything wooshed by her, blurring her vision in reds. Blood red.

She gasped in the dream, as white hot pain filled her skull.

She woke with a lurch, gasping and panting as she doubled over in the chair she was still sitting in.

She could hear the other in her company almost drop the book he was reading, the sound of it clattering onto his desk.

The sound was far away to her. Even his voice, muffled, sounded far away. She couldn't even tell what he said.

Her pupils were slits, as she remained hunched over and panting.

She could still feel the throbbing ache in her skull, as her claws dig into her abdomen to contain herself.

"...bhaalist." a muffled voice called to her.

She was still gasping, her head lifting slightly, to see.. concerned? onyx eyes.

"Are you alright, Bhaalist?" The voice asked again, more clearly. A hand appeared in her vision, and she flinched back with a hiss, the sting of her dream still fresh.
"D..dream." She rasped back, her body slowly lifting to press her back against the chair. Her hands reached for the book she'd been reading, before she realized she'd dropped it to the floor when she startled awake. She bent down, picked it up, closed it, and set it on the desk. "I must be going. I did not intend to fall asleep here. I apologize." Her? Apologizing to a Banite? Blasphemy.

He didn't respond, and she took that as her cue. She quickly stood up, wincing at the throb in her skull. Then she quickly made her way towards the glass door of his balcony. She stared out of it for a moment, not saying a word.

She had fallen asleep unintentionally in his company, and not a scratch was left upon her.

He very well could have easily injured her. Killed her. And he didn't.

Even after he was made aware of her status.

Her brows furrowed, and the Urge in her stirred. She shook her head, and with a flick of her tail, leapt off the balcony and landed square on her feet.
