In my 15 years in Corporate America I had six bosses.Just one of them was a woman. Here’s a great video with some tips for what women seeking leadership positions should do.My favorite suggestion in here is the importance of securing a sponsor. It doesn’t matter if your name is on the list of high potential candidates. Someone who supports your candidacy must be in that room when the discussion happens about whom to move forward.I would also add the following idea from Brooke Castillo, a very successful business leader. If you want a leadership role, DECIDE that’s what you’re going to have.I say this because there is a lot of momentum that can make it difficult for women to advance and a lot of that ends up right in the head of the woman who wants to move forward. You’ve got to overcome that inertia.Deciding means to commit yourself fully to your endeavor. The root of the word is literally “to kill” — as in to kill off other options, to kill off the voices that say you can’t.Deciding is not a purely mental exercise. Couple it with bold action (such as suggested in the video). Decide it is going to happen and make it so.Jean LaVallie, Women Entrepreneurs Secrets of Success (WESOS)

Two things stood out for me in these interview shorts. First, performance currency can get you into the room but may not get you where you need to be. I recall one particular year as a manager when my boss told me that he had not personally recommended a performance bonus for me; other executives had, and they believed I had done a great job. Now, I wonder how any of you female leaders would have reacted. The second point that stood out is that if no one recognises your efforts, you need to change where you are, not who you are. Do not try to please people who do not recognise your talents. As a hard-working female leader, find the right sponsor or new employer and move forward.

Who is your ultimate female role model in the world of hospitality leadership?Drop their name in the comments and let's spotlight these inspiring leaders!"According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, women make up 51.2% of the workforce in the hospitality sector—one of a handful of industries where women are a majority. Despite this level of representation, the upper ranks of hospitality leadership look much different. Only 30% of leaders in the sector are women; for every female chief officer, there are three men with the title." - Forbes#womeninbusiness #womenempowerment #womeninhospitality #hospitalitylife #hospitalityicons #leadingladies

In an LHH Study by Tammy Heermann, results showed that 82% believed that advancing women was a critical business issue. However, only 28% are satisfied with their organization’s ability to elevate women into more leadership roles. This data reinforces the concerns expressed by organizations that recognize the significance of promoting women into leadership positions. However, these organizations remain dissatisfied with the steps they've taken and the outcomes they've achieved so far. What do you think? Do you believe that women advancing into their careers is an important business issue? #careers #womenworking #factorsaffectingwomen #leadership #lhhphilippines
