Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is the most important traditional festival in China. It is celebrated based on the lunar calendar and typically falls between January 21st and February 20th. The festival lasts for 15 days and is a time for families to come together, honor ancestors, and wish each other good fortune for the coming year.During Chinese New Year, there are various customs and traditions observed. These include thorough cleaning of the house to sweep away bad luck, decorating with red lanterns and couplets to bring good luck, and setting off firecrackers and fireworks to drive away evil spirits.Family reunions are a significant part of the celebration. People travel long distances to be with their families and share a festive meal together on New Year's Eve. The meal usually includes symbolic dishes such as fish, dumplings, and rice cakes, which represent prosperity and good luck.Another essential aspect of Chinese New Year is the giving and receiving of red envelopes, known as "hongbao." These red envelopes contain money and are given by married couples or elders to children and unmarried individuals as a gesture of good wishes and blessings. The festival also features traditional lion and dragon dances, as well as various cultural activities such as lantern festivals, temple fairs, and performances of traditional Chinese arts, including music, dance, and martial arts.Overall, Chinese New Year is a time of joy, reunion, and renewal. It is a celebration deeply rooted in Chinese culture and is observed not only in China but also in many other countries with Chinese communities around the world.

A few thoughts on the Realisation Festival that takes place at the end of June at St.Giles House in Dorset (still some tickets available):Most of us were almost called something else. Those near-misses often earn the consolation prize of becoming a middle name and a mention on our official documents, but they are mostly honoured and then forgotten, like silver medalists. Perhaps the purpose of our middle names is to remind us of near misses more generally, and what they imply for the contingency of how our lives have played out. We could so easily have been someone else, and might yet be.The Realisation Festivalwas almost called The Festival of Space and Time. We even briefly considered The Festival of Space, Time, and Reality, but managed to take cold showers before things got out of hand. The venue,St Giles House, offers space literally in its acres of landscape, room to roam, and unbroken lines of sight. The festival also seeks to offerKairosamidst Chronos, a distinctive quality of time informed by a multi-generation context of social reform and philosophy where we recognise ourselves as historical actors with a future, and sink into the depth of the present. How often do we hear: “Give it some time” or “I just need some space” ?These figures of speech are familiar to everyone, but they evoke something deep, and it’s not clear if we need both time and space because they offer different things, or because they co-arise somehow.‘Spacetime’ is part of the legacy of our cultural infatuation with Albert Einstein, but the collapse of time into space, or what has been called ‘the spatialisation of time’, is problematic. We should not be too quick to assume we understand time, space, and their relationship, for a great deal flows from that.Time and Space are deep metaphysical mysteries but they are also lived realities. At the festival, we do not examine them directly as questions, but the mystery they evoke is part of the atmosphere. And while minds are well-fed at the festival we don’t see the intellect as sovereign. We call it a festival for the soul (rather than just the mind or the body) because we are interested in the full experience of being alive, and exploring and expressing that experience in a range of ways. The role of dance, poetry, improvisation, walking, star gazing, art, yoga, music and other activities are not add-ons or mere decoration, but right at the heart of the festival’s ethos. The festival takes place from June 27th-30th. Tickets and bursary places are still available.More details at the link and in the video below.https://lnkd.in/dmtwnehS

In today's fast-paced world, I personally concerned, how mental health issues can affect anyone, sadly ☹️, often without us even realizing it. The hustle and bustle of city life can make us feel insecure, stressed, and overwhelmed. But it's essential to create a strong support system and a safe space for those around us.Taking a new role as an entrepreneur and leader, Im learning on promoting mental health and equality within our organization and the broader community. Few tips I tried to do at ASECH - Center of Excellence on Smart City: 1. Create a workplace culture that prioritizes mental health and equality.2. Lead by example! Demonstrate healthy work-life balance and open communication about mental health.3. Ensure to be diverse and inclusive which means equality in hiring, offering equal opportunities for advancement, and creating an environment where everyone feels valued.4. Encourage open conversations and let the team know that seeking help for mental health is a sign of strength, not weakness!6. Encourage the team to maintain a healthy work-life balance. (flexible work hours, remote work options, and afternoon walk/jog to catch the sunset by the beach side 🌅😊🌅)7. Support policies that promote mental health and equality in the workplace and in the broader community. Learning with support of DNetwork - Jaringan Kerja Disabilitas Indonesia Annika Linden Centre whom I met at the The Contentment Foundation event. 8. Show empathy toward your team members and their individual struggles. Understand that everyone's mental health journey is unique, and offer support accordingly. 🤗🤗🤗Let's celebrate inclusivity and embrace everyone with open arms. We're all on this journey together, and being considerate of one another can make a world of difference. Believe in yourself, in the power within, and in the greater forces of the universe. As the Jimba Fest message reminds us: "If we want it, we can do it."💚 Remember, you are not alone in this journey, and there is strength in unity. Together, we can promote mental well-being and equity for all. Special thanks to PT Jimbaran Hijau Bali for promoting this in JimbaFest! Great reminder! Please share in comments if you have other great tips to create a positive and inclusive environment that benefits your team, your organization, and society as a whole.#MentalHealthMatters #Inclusivity #wellbeingatwork #SupportEachOther #BelieveInYourself #JimbaFestMessage #unityindiversity

We need more stories like this. Our perception of intangible heritage should not be limited to well established tradition. Music, dancing and most importantly, the spaces that house them, are vital to the culture of a nation. While German techno isn't for everyone, think of the Hacienda in Manchester, now just a block of apartments, and that venue's contribution to the UK's house and rave culture. We shouldn't be putting plaques up to the memory of something: instead they deserve the recognition while they are thriving to protect that heritage and to recognise the limitless impact it can have. https://lnkd.in/efz3x2qE

So I was thinking... As I embrace getting "more smarter" with age, I've come to realize that celebrating life is essential, don't you think? And what better way to celebrate than by immersing yourself in the festivals of the city, ah? Anyways, life's too short no to celebrate. And if you start from this May in Kaunas it will not be possible to stop :) So if you are looking for an electrifying way to spice up your season, look no further because Kaunas has got you covered! 💃🎉 Starting from May it's a perfect time to skip work and visit with those living nearby. So, if not on May, then any other time during the summer, Kaunas looks forward to welcoming visitors from neighbouring countries and residents (of course) announcing a summer programme perfect for weekend getaways and celebrations. So why should you make Kaunas your destination for celebration this season? Let me count the ways that sounds interesting to me:- Neighbours day. Calling out to all our Latvian, Estonian, Polish, Lithuanians and other neighboring friends – Kaunas is eagerly awaiting your visit. Let's celebrate together!- Kaunas's Birthday (a Medieval city with a DJ spinning your favorite tunes :) )- Musical festivals (including an electronic music extravaganza and the iconic 100-year-old song fest).- Ed Sheeran coming (got your ticket yet? there are only a few left for the second concert on August 4th).- Sting with my Song tour is also on my plans :)And much moooore: I leave the article prepared byKaunas INabout celebrations in a comment and let's meet up in any concert, festival or picnic and be smart to feast life. Contact me if you decide to come, or need some more info.#destinationforcelebration#kaunas#kaunastic#celebrate
